Bishop Gregory Parkes recently issued an impassioned letter addressed to all the faithful in our diocese about protecting human rights of unborn children.  In part, he writes:

"The Catholic Church has always promoted the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death.  I call on all people of good will to join us in our efforts.  It should be a universal belief on the part of society that each life is precious and is a gift from God.  Then, the right to life will be a fundamental human right that will be protected.  I firmly believe that if society fails to protect life at its most innocent and vulnerable stage in the womb, then what guarantee is there that life will be respected and protected at any stage?"

Thank you, Bishop Parkes!

We’d like to thank Bishop Gregory Parkes for coming to our parish on December 16, 2018 to celebrate with us the 3rd Sunday of Advent. We marked his first visit by planting two Arizona cypress trees in front of our church. We're happy to share here the pictures that were taken during his visit and the note he sent afterwards.

May Bishop Parkes’ visit with us be the first among many in the future!

Dear Fr. Glenn,

Thank you very much for your kind and generous offering on the occasion of visiting St. Thomas the Apostle Parish for Mass this past weekend. I enjoyed my visit and everyone was very welcoming. I’m also grateful for the tree that was planted in honor and remembrance of my 1st pastoral visit. Please know that I ask the Lord’s blessing upon you and the faithful of your parish this Christmas Season!

Sincerely in Christ,

Bishop Gregory L. Parkes
